PM Modi Urges Police Force to Harness India's 'Double AI Power' in Counteracting Digital Fraud and Cybercrimes
Bhubaneswar, Odisha - Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed the concluding session of the 59th All India Conference of Director Generals/Inspector Generals of Police in Bhubaneswar, stressing the importance of harnessing India's "double AI power" to counter digital frauds and cybercrimes.
Addressing senior police officials, PM Modi expressed concern over the potential threats generated by these crimes and urged the police leadership to convert this challenge into an opportunity. He called on them to explore new dimensions and innovate solutions to address modern security challenges.
The Prime Minister suggested that technology be used to reduce the workload of police constabulary and proposed that police stations be made focal points for resource allocation. He praised initiatives taken in urban policing and emphasized the importance of each initiative being implemented nationwide.
Modi also reintroduced the 'SMART policing' idea, which envisions systemic changes to transform the Indian police into Strict and Sensitive, Modern and Mobile, Alert and Accountable, Reliable and Responsive, Techno-savvy and Trained entities.
Other notable attendees at the meeting included Union Home Minister Amit Shah and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
The conference aimed to address national and international dimensions of security challenges. As reported earlier, officials had exchanged notes on counter-strategies that emerged during the session.
