### Mizoram University Hosts International Conference on Chemical Sciences

Aizawl, Mizoram - The serene campus of Mizoram University was abuzz with academic fervor as it hosted the international conference titled 'Current Trends in Chemical Sciences Research and Education' (CACSRE) from [start date] to [end date]. This significant event, which also featured the National Convention of Chemistry Teachers (NCCT), attracted over 200 participants from across India and abroad.

The conference commenced with an opening address by Ved Prakash Singh, Head of the Industrial Chemistry Department at Mizoram University and the event's convener. The inauguration was graced by Mizoram's Education Minister, Vanlalthlana, who underscored the vital role of science education in state development.

Distinguished guests, including SK Mehta, Vice-Chancellor of Ladakh University, and RC Deka, Vice-Chancellor of Cotton University, provided insights into the latest trends in chemistry and science education.

The conference boasted an impressive lineup of speakers from notable institutions worldwide. Konstantin Volcho from the Novosibirsk Institute of Organic Chemistry, Russia, and T Punniyamurthy from IIT-Guwahati, among others, delivered plenaries and invited lectures. The event was enriched with 12 rapid-fire talks, 30 oral presentations, and over 60 poster presentations, showcasing cutting-edge research in chemical sciences.

The NCCT, marking its first session in Mizoram, was particularly notable for its focus on climate change and sustainable development. Local school students and teachers participated in quizzes and educational sessions exploring topics like nanopesticides and eco-friendly technologies.

The conference concluded with insightful plenary lectures by Ravi P Singh from IIT-Delhi and Subharata Sen from Shiv Nadar University. A valedictory session featured a detailed report by Ved Prakash Singh and the distribution of certificates. The Royal Society of Chemistry, London, sponsored cash awards for the best oral and poster presentations, recognizing excellence in research.

Funding for the event came from prominent bodies including the Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences (BRNS-DAE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), and the Royal Society of Chemistry (UK). The conference was organized with the support of the Association of Chemistry Teachers (ACT), Mumbai, highlighting the collaborative spirit of the academic community.
