"Meghalaya Sees Rise in Eco-Friendly Initiatives Among Students"

A state-level eco club competition organized by the Meghalaya State Council of Science, Technology and Environment (SCSTE) drew over 180 students from 31 schools in rural areas across the state.

The event took place at Nongkrem from November 7th to 9th and featured several competitions, including a written exam based on Objective Multiple Response (OMR), science projects, and a scavenger hunt. According to officials, top-performing eco clubs will soon receive awards and resources worth educational materials such as school libraries, tinkering labs, hydroponic units, rainwater harvesting systems, clean drinking water facilities, among others.

The programme aims to foster scientific temper in students, reflecting SCSTE's commitment to sustainable growth in rural communities. While there's no official list of winners released yet, the initiative is seen as a step in the right direction for promoting environmental awareness and eco-friendly practices among young minds.

Meanwhile, Engineering Students Get Ready to Innovate

Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE) is set to host a state-level hackathon focused on creating sustainable solutions for smart campuses. The event welcomes 50 teams from engineering colleges across the state, competing for cash prizes as they develop innovative projects promoting sustainability, energy efficiency, and environmental conservation.

** Record-Breaking Performance**

A student from Coimbatore has broken the state record in the 100-meter race at a recent competition in Erode. A K Thiya, a 12th-grade student, completed the race in an impressive 11.95 seconds, surpassing the previous record of 12.40 seconds. Her dedication to her sport is evident in her rigorous training regimen, which began in the 5th grade.

In light of these developments, it's clear that Meghalaya and other parts of India are at the forefront of promoting eco-friendly initiatives among young minds and fostering innovation in science technology environment.
