Infosys Science Foundation Awards 2024 Life Sciences Prize to Siddhesh Kamat
Bangalore: The Infosys Science Foundation (ISF) announced the winners of the Infosys Prize 2024 in six categories— Economics, Engineering and Computer Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, and Physical Sciences.
Among the winners, Siddhesh Kamat from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune has been awarded this year's prize in Life Sciences. This prestigious award acknowledges his groundbreaking research on bioactive lipids and their receptors, and their metabolic and signaling pathways.
Prof Kamat's work using advanced methods to understand the function of lipids, a key component of cells, has significant implications for understanding the role of these molecules in a range of cellular functions and human diseases. The Infosys Prize comprises a gold medal, citation, and a prize purse of $100,000, given by the ISF.
This award marks another milestone in the journey to recognize and appreciate individuals whose research and scholarship have significantly impacted society.
