Zomato Unveils District App to Expand 'Going-Out' Business

Mumbai, India - Zomato Limited, a prominent food aggregator, has launched District, a dedicated app for its growing 'going-out' business, available on both iOS and Android platforms. This marks the company's third consumer-facing venture after its flagship food delivery app, Blinkit, and quick-commerce platform.

District aims to consolidate the "going-out" business by offering a range of services such as dining, movies, sports ticketing, live performances, shopping, staycations, and more. Initially, users can book tickets for movies and live events on this new vertical.

Zomato's 'Going-out' business combines its Dining-out and Zomato Live business verticals. With the addition of District, the company is strengthening its presence in a competitive market dominated by BookMyShow, which holds a 60% market share in India's movie ticketing segment.

To fuel growth, Zomato acquired Paytm's entertainment business, Insider, for ₹2,048 crore in late August. The acquisition was aimed at bolstering the company's position in the online ticketing market.

The food delivery aggregator also reported impressive financial results for its quarterly earnings, with a net profit of ₹176 crore and revenue increasing by 69% on an adjusted basis to ₹4,799 crore, marking the fifth consecutive quarter of profitability.
