Ziply Fiber Inks Deal to Acquire Pacific Northwest Assets from Unite Private Networks
Kansas City, MO - Ziply Fiber, a leading fiber-optic broadband services provider, has reached a deal to acquire the Pacific Northwest assets of Unite Private Networks (UPN), a Kansas City-area provider of fiber communications infrastructure services. The acquisition is valued at approximately 7,000 additional miles of fiber across four states: Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana.
According to Harold Zeitz, CEO of Ziply Fiber, the deal reflects the company's desire to expand its commercial footprint in the Northwest region. "Expanding our commercial footprint in the Northwest has been a priority for us this year, and it's a win-win to be able to do that while also adding new territory that can help us as we continue to look at edge-out markets on the residential side of our business," Zeitz said.
The acquisition comes amid increased competition in the U.S. broadband market, with Canadian-based BCE recently announcing a deal to acquire UPN. Ziply Fiber's move is expected to increase its fiber assets and customer base, providing additional commercial solutions to customers across Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana.
Under the deal, Ziply Fiber will become the new owner of UPN's fiber network and customers in the region. The acquisition is expected to enhance Ziply Fiber's business service reach and enable the company to offer a range of lit and dark fiber services, as well as other commercial solutions to its customers.
Once complete, Ziply Fiber will be able to provide customers with a variety of additional commercial fiber services, including 100G wavelength, 400G wavelength, 10 and 100G IP transit, dark fiber, cloud on-ramps, IP transit and peering, metro and long-haul routes, and other services.
The acquisition is expected to further strengthen Ziply Fiber's position in the market, as it continues to expand its presence in residential fiber broadband.
