Ziply Fiber Acquires Pacific Northwest Assets from Unite Private Networks
Seattle, WA - Ziply Fiber, a Kansas City-based provider of broadband internet services, has announced its intention to acquire the Pacific Northwest assets of Unite Private Networks (UPN), a Kansas City-area provider of fiber communications infrastructure services. The deal is aimed at enhancing Ziply's business service reach and residential fiber broadband play.
The acquisition will see Ziply Fiber acquire UPN's fiber assets, network, and customers in Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana, with plans to expand its presence across critical cities including Puyallup and Silverdale, Wash.; Homedale, Idaho; Columbia Falls, Havre, and Miles City, Montana; and Sheridan, Wyoming.
The acquisition is expected to add more than 7,000 fiber miles of new network infrastructure to Ziply's existing portfolio. This will enable the company to provide its customers with a wide range of lit and dark fiber services, as well as other commercial solutions.
"We are excited about this acquisition, which reflects our desire to enhance our business service reach and residential fiber broadband play," said Harold Zeitz, CEO of Ziply Fiber. "Expanding our territorial footprint in the Northwest is a priority for us, and we see this deal as an opportunity to do so while also growing our market share on the residential side."
Once the acquisition is complete, Ziply Fiber will be able to offer a variety of additional commercial fiber services on its network, including 100G wavelength, 400G wavelength, 10 and 100G IP transit, 10G ethernet, dark fiber, cloud on-ramps, IP transit and peering, metro and long-haul routes, among others.
The acquisition comes as Canadian-based BCE announced a deal to acquire UPN, marking another major player's entry into the U.S. broadband market.
