YOUTH SUSTAINS GRIEVOUS INJURIES AFTER GETTING TRAPPED IN CHINESE MANJA IN CUTTACK
In a disturbing incident, a youth in Cuttack sustained severe injuries on Sunday when he got entangled in the banned Chinese manja (kite flying string) that continues to be used widely by kite enthusiasts despite a ban on its sale and use.
The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Aniket Das, who was returning home from Trisulia when the incident occurred. According to eyewitnesses, Dalit Chetna Sangathan's complaint was lodged against Aniket at Mahagarh police station, after he got his neck, hand, and thumb severely injured.
When reached for comment, Additional DCP of Cuttack Police Commissionerate confirmed that a case has been filed under Section 337 (grievous hurt) in an attempt to prevent similar incidents. "Strict actions will be taken against those found selling and using banned Chinese manja," the DCP warned.
However, when our report was submitted to this publication after four days, no action had been taken and the incident remained unresolved. As a routine practice of our News daily Alarian.com do not publish any sensitive or disturbing images, to keep with our guidelines.
