Youth Engagement in National Services: Minister Mandaviya Emphasises Importance of Seva in Today's Context

Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya yesterday stressed on the significance of engaging young people in various national services such as security, environmental activism, cultural preservation, and experiential learning during an online meeting with National Service Scheme (NSS) office bearers from all states.

Dr. Mandaviya also highlighted the need to redefine 'Seva' in light of present-day global challenges, drawing on his experience as a former NSS volunteer. "Seva" refers to selfless service towards the nation and community.

Furthermore, State Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil emphasized the growing issue of blood shortage during emergency situations, urging college youth, students, and NSS office-bearers to register themselves as Civil Defence Warriors on the 'MY Bharat' portal. This can be done at mybharat.gov.in/pages/civil-registration.

Mr. Patil requested cadets, students, and office bearers to mention the period of their life they wish to dedicate for service, thereby equipping the nation with ready-to-use resources in times of need. The registration process will be conducted at the district level, with relevant information provided to the District Collector's Office for future reference.

The goal of this initiative is to ensure effective participation and involvement of young individuals in serving the country, particularly during crisis situations where their assistance can make a significant difference.
