Youth Empowerment through Sports: 68th National School Games Flagged Off in Jammu

Jammu, Nov 12: The 68th National School Games kicked off with a grand ceremony at the University of Jammu, marking the beginning of an exciting chapter in promoting youth sports in the region. Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, officially declared open the Fencing championship at the University, which is being held under the Department of Youth Services and Sports (YS&S), J&K.

The prestigious event, organized by the School Games Federation of India, has brought together promising players from across the country to compete in various sporting disciplines, including fencing. The Minister emphasized the government's commitment towards nurturing genuine sports talent while ensuring that no individual or group politicsports using them for personal gains would be tolerated.

"Sports are not just about winning medals, but about shaping young minds and body into champions of life," Sharma said during his address. "We will continue to support deserving athletes and ensure that the youth of Jammu and Kashmir have world-class facilities to excel in national and international events."

The 68th National School Games provide a platform for school athletes to showcase their talent, compete at the national level, and gain exposure to sports. The Minister also stressed the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle and developing competitivespirit through sports.

Secretary YS&S, Sarmad Hafeez, congratulated the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, J&K, for successfully completing the 68th National School Games in Wushu and expressed confidence that the remaining three national championships would also be successfully organized.

The government is committed to promoting sports infrastructure and providing world-class facilities to young athletes in Jammuand Kashmir. This will help them perform better in national and international events, and contribute towards shaping well-rounded individuals with positive values.
