Young Indian Triathlete Bags Prestigious World Championship Selection

New Delhi: A 24-year-old athlete from Gurugram, Rajat Gupta, has achieved a tremendous feat by securing selection to participate in the upcoming world championship of triathlon racing, scheduled to be held in France in September this year.

This milestone is significant as Rajat becomes the first Indian to qualify for the world championship in the 18-24 age category. According to sources, he finished third at the Asian Ironman Race championship held at Langkawi, Malaysia, in October last year, earning him a spot at the prestigious event.

Rajat's impressive performance has earned him the number one triathlete ranking in India and a global ranking of 261. He has been competing in high-level races since 2021, including the European championship to be held in Germany in June this year.

The young athlete completed his graduation in business and management from Henley Business School in the UK and had previously represented the country at the national level in table tennis. He is also an ultrarunner and served as the captain and president of several teams that hold a rare distinction in the institution's 150-year history.

Rajat's achievement is all the more remarkable considering his finish at the world-class Wales Ironman Race in September 2022, where he clocked a time of 14 hours to complete the grueling course. He is the only Indian to have accomplished this feat so far.

Representing India in the triathlon racing world championship is a significant milestone for Rajat, who has set the stage ablaze with his unwavering dedication and commitment to his sport. With his determination and passion, he aims to make a mark on the global sporting scene and inspire young athletes across the country.
