Yadavindra Public School Celebrates 76th Annual Sports Day with Alumni Nostalgia

Patiala, October 12, 2023 - Yadavindra Public School (YPS) turned back the clock as alumni and current students gathered to celebrate the institution's 76th Annual Sports Day. The event, attended by over 1,400 students, was not just a showcase of athletic prowess but a poignant reunion for alumni spanning several decades.

The sports day, traditionally a highlight in the YPS calendar, served as a platform to honor the year's sporting achievements while fostering a spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship among the students. The festivities concluded with a school dinner, where the school's community, including the board of governors, teachers, parents, and alumni, mingled in a festive atmosphere.

Among the attendees were alumni from the silver jubilee batch of 1999, the golden jubilee batch of 1974, and veteran Yadavandrians (OYs), all of whom expressed a profound sense of nostalgia. Alumni like Nakul Gupta, Satbir Khatra, and Gurjit Kohli from the '99 batch remarked, "It feels like it was just yesterday we were here," highlighting the timeless bond with their alma mater.

The event was also a testament to the enduring values instilled by YPS. Alumni such as Saket Bansal, Mazhal Ali, and Vishal Jain credited their success in life to the discipline and ethos of the school. "The discipline we learned here has been our guiding light," they shared.

Former Union Minister and YPS alumnus Pawan Bansal, who attended the event, expressed his youthful spirit, stating, "I am not too old and still feel young when I am on these lush green fields."

Headmaster Navin Kumar Dixit welcomed the guests, emphasizing the unique bond among YPS alumni. "Just saying 'I am from the same school' creates an instant connection," he noted, reflecting on the shared experiences and brotherhood that binds the community.

Colonel RPS Brar (retd), president of the Aitchison Yadavindra Old Students’ Association (AYOSA), echoed the sentiment, saying, "It feels like it was yesterday," as he looked around at familiar faces.

The silver jubilee batch members, including Japinder Bajwa, Smriti Jassar, and Jeevanjot Kathuria, cherished the reunion, promising to keep the bonds alive. "Meeting friends and former batchmates was unforgettable," they expressed.

The celebration at YPS was not just about sports; it was a vibrant reminder of the lasting connections and memories formed within its walls, echoing through time as alumni returned to celebrate their shared heritage.
