Weather Forces Cancellation of World Cup Downhill Race

GARMISCH-PARTENKICHEN, Germany - The organizers of Sunday's World Cup downhill race in Garmisch-Partenkirchen have canceled the event due to poor weather conditions.

The cancellation comes after both training sessions for the day were called off, citing heavy fog on the track. Saturday's practice session was initially delayed but ultimately ended up being canceled by the jury and organizing committee, with similar reasoning applied to Friday's session which was also affected by the inclement weather.

According to a statement released by organizers on Saturday, they made the decision to cancel Sunday's downhill race with "regret" due to the circumstances. This cancellation marks the end of the practice sessions before the world championships set to take place in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Austria on Tuesday.
