Wallenberg Investments to Tap New Sovereign AI Infrastructure with NVIDIA

Stockholm, Sweden - May 24, 2025 - In a significant move to transform and prepare the country's leading industries for the age of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Swedish business consortium AstraZeneca, Ericsson, Saab, SEB, and Wallenberg Investments will tap into new sovereign AI infrastructure with NVIDIA.

The partnership aims to build an AI technology center in Sweden, where NVIDIA, a global leader in AI computing, networking, and software, will collaborate with the industry giants to advance cutting-edge AI research. The first phase of the deployment will feature two NVIDIA DGX SuperPODs, showcasing the largest enterprise AI supercomputer in Sweden upon completion.

The consortium plans to create a secure, sovereign compute access system for industry partners, enabling them to tap into high-performance AI computing resources. AstraZeneca will utilize the system to spearhead next-generation AI-enabled drug discovery and development, while Ericsson will leverage its expertise to develop state-of-the-art AI models.

Saab will deploy AI methodology to accelerate the development of new defense capabilities, and SEB will use AI as a central component in its ambition to drive productivity enhancement and power new customer offerings. The system's primary function is to support these initiatives by providing high-performance computing resources for complex AI workloads.

"NVIDIA is thrilled to partner with Swedish industry leaders and Wallenberg Investments to create this groundbreaking infrastructure," said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA. "This initiative marks an essential step toward accelerating the development and adoption of AI across Swedish industries."

Wallenberg Investments Chair Marcus Wallenberg welcomed this partnership, saying: "We believe that investing in cutting-edge AI infrastructure is crucial for Sweden's accelerated growth and innovation. This collaborative effort will generate valuable spillover effects by enabling upskilling, fostering new collaborations, and strengthening the national AI ecosystem."

The consortium aims to drive new AI innovation in Sweden through knowledge sharing and industry-driven project-based R&D. The NVIDIA Technology Center will be established to advance world-class AI research with the industry partners.
