VJTI Organises Second 'ATSMDE 2024' Conference to Address Cutting-Edge Research Topics

Mumbai, December 28 - A two-day international conference on "Advances in Thermal Systems, Materials, and Design Engineering (ATSMDE 2024)" was successfully organized by the Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI) in collaboration with the Mumbai University and the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Matunga. The conference, which kicked off on December 27 at a hotel in Bandra-Kurla Complex, brought together experts and researchers from across the globe to share cutting-edge research findings in nuclear energy, green-energy solutions, and hydrogen production.

The event featured presentations on a wide range of topics, including advancements in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), sustainable manufacturing practices, AI-based manufacturing systems, cyber security, and Internet of Things (IoT). Research organizations such as the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Atomic Energy Corporation of India Limited (AECIL) participated in the conference to foster discussions on current technological and environmental challenges.

The ceremony was attended by esteemed guests, including Dr. Ravindra Kulkarni, Vice-Chancellor of Mumbai University, who spoke about collaborations between leading institutes under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. He emphasized the importance of using research to find solutions that benefit society.

Speaking on the increasing usage of hydrogen fuel and its safety measures for transportation, a representative from the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)'s Ahmedabad centre stressed the need for careful planning and execution. Meanwhile, presentations by BARC highlighted breakthroughs in UAV designs and sustainable manufacturing practices.

The conference provided a platform for young researchers to share emerging research ideas on thermal domain, advanced materials, and design improvement in present systems. The event aims to provide tangible outcomes and emphasizes the realization of innovative concepts. According to organizers, nearly 90 delegates from around the world attended the conference, marking it as an opportunity to deliberate the future trajectory of VJTI with respect to research and development.

The event was also attended by dignitaries such as Director VM Mohitkar, former director of CSIR & IIT-Goa, BK Mishra, Raman Singh Monash University, Australia, and Sachin Kore, Director of VJTI.
