Vice President Stresses Paramountcy on Health for Individual and Society
JODHPUR, Nov 23: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar emphasized the significance of health on Saturday for addressing a gathering of graduates at the 64th convocation of National Academy of Medical Sciences at AIIMS-Jodhpur. The esteemed guest expressed deep concern over the commercialization and erosion of ethical standards in the medical profession.
Addressing the large crowd of young doctors, Mr Dhankhar called upon them to assume the role of guardians not just confined to clinical care but also serving as educators and public health advocates. He stressed that their responsibility extends beyond treating patients to promoting good health.
The Vice President highlighted India's goal of becoming the world's third-largest economy, yet noted that achieving this goal would require a significant increase in per capita income with improvements in public health. A notable observation made by the Vice President pertained to the preference for domestically manufactured medical equipment instead of imported ones deemed superior.
Moreover, the prominent leader criticized the "digital lifestyle" and implored the medical professionals to emphasize preventive healthcare. Emphasizing its existential risks, he urged families to be educated from an early age on adopting a balanced way of life amidst this digital expanse.
