Vice-Chancellor Inaugurates Makar Sankranti Sports Competition at Local College

Jaipur, Rajasthan - On the occasion of Makar Sankranti, Vice-Chancellor of Rajasthan Vidyapeeth Deemed to be University, Prof. S.S. Sarangdevot, participated in a historic sports competition held at the Lokmanya Tilak Teacher Training College ground yesterday.

In a unique tradition, Prof. Sarangdevot kicked off the event by playing Sitoliya, an ancient game that is gaining traction again among students and educators. The Vice-Chancellor emphasized the importance of preserving Indian culture and traditional games, stating that they play a vital role in nurturing social, mental, and physical development.

The festival of Makar Sankranti serves as a reminder to transition from darkness to light according to Vedic philosophy 'Tamaso Ma Jyotirgamaya'. Prof. Sarangdevot stressed the need for younger generations to get away from modern distractions such as mobile phones and books, reminding them that our festivals and traditional games are not meant only for entertainment but also serve purposes in strengthening these essential values.

The event witnessed active participation from academic and non-academic staff members of the college who thronged the sports ground with games like cricket, table tennis, tug of war, and Sitoliya being played. The Principal of the College Prof. Saroj Garg promised that the winning participants will be granted rewards during their Annual Day Celebrations.

Staff members such as Dr. Rachna Rathore, Dr. Balidan Jain, Dr. Sunita Murdia, Dr. Amit Dave, Dr. Harish Menaria, Dr. Harish Choubisa, and Dr. Rohit Kumawat actively participated in the celebrations.
