Veloore Institute of Technology Celebrates 40 Years with Former Indian VP

In a grand ceremony held on November 12 at the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), India's former Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu addressed students, marking the institute's 40th anniversary. This notable event was also an opportunity to unveil the newly constructed Sarojini Naidu ladies hostel block and RG Tower staff quarters.

As the chief guest, Mr. Venkaiah Naidu emphasized that quality education should be accessible and affordable for everyone, especially those from rural areas. He urged students to harness their potential by acquiring good quality education, which can lead to positive change in society.

The event was attended by dignitaries including Duraimurugan, Minister for Water Resources of Tamil Nadu; Dr. Sankar Viswanathan and Dr. Sekar Viswanathan, VIT Vice-Presidents; Dr. GV Selvam, Executive Director; Assistant Vice President Kadhambari S Viswanathan, and other high-ranking officials.

VIT's Founder & Chancellor, Dr. G. Viswanathan, urged the Central and State Governments to increase priority for education and provide more financial support. He suggested offering free education or providing grants/loan options to students.

Moreover, Dr. G. Viswanathan appealed to the Central Government to reduce the Goods and Services Tax (GST) rate for educational institutions, thereby reducing the cost of education.

During his speech, Minister Duraimurugan commemorated VIT's transformation from a regional institute to an international brand, showcasing its global recognition.

Veloore Institute of Technology marked this milestone with great fanfare, highlighting its commitment to quality education and empowerment of the younger generation.
