Valeo's Cutting-Edge Factory in Shenzhen: A Beacon for Innovative Manufacturing

SHENZHEN, CHINA – Valeo, a global leader in mobility technology, has solidified its position as one of the world's top tech hubs with its cutting-edge factory in Shenzhen, China. Recognized by the World Economic Forum as a "Global Lighthouse Factory" in 2025, this facility exemplifies the company's commitment to advanced smart manufacturing and digital transformation.

Located in Shenzhen, Valeo's plant has become a model for efficient and intelligent production, boasting state-of-the-art automation, industrial IoT, AI, and Industry 4.0 technologies. Over 42 projects have been implemented to create a transparent, efficient, and data-driven production environment, featuring robotic trolleys, real-time dashboards, and advanced algorithms.

The plant's implementation of innovative projects has led to remarkable results, including a dramatic reduction in the defective rate of smart front cameras, a shortened lead time by 34.5%, increased productivity by 60.2%, and reduced unit energy consumption by 27.1%. The site has also seen a significant decrease in CO 2 emissions by 41% over the past five years.

Since its establishment in 2005, Valeo's Shenzhen plant has undergone rapid development, transforming from a modest outpost to one of the company's largest production sites and electronic R&D centers in China. Today, it employs 3,200 employees and produces components for ADAS systems, vehicle electrification, and lighting systems.

Fang Huang, site general manager, reflects on the remarkable growth: "It's unbelievable how fast we have grown… At the beginning, it was all manual, and now our lines are nearly 100% automated." The facility is not only a symbol of Valeo's manufacturing capabilities but also an example of the transformation from "Made in China" to "Invent in China."

The innovative Phone-as-a-Key technology and Valeo Smart Safety 360, a cost-effective L2 system, were developed by the Shenzhen team. According to Huang, "The competition in China is intense," which drives the company to be more creative, efficient, and focused on delivering safety and quality.
