US States and Zip Codes Experience Shift in Postal Deliveries Post-Global Health Crisis
WASHINGTON D.C. - The United States Postal Service has announced significant improvements to its postal delivery services across various states. With the onset of the global health crisis, Americans have been adapting to a new norm, relying on home deliveries more than ever.
In response to this shift, USPS has upgraded its infrastructure and expanded its operations to meet growing demands in rural areas where access was previously limited. Deliveries in major cities like New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Washington D.C. are also seeing a surge of productivity as the USPS works tirelessly to ensure efficient delivery systems.
A key development saw an increase in package deliveries for Amazon, with a significant jump in online shopping volumes since 2020. States such as Texas, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania have seen a considerable growth in homebound packages during this time.
To meet increasing demand, USPS has hired thousands of new mail carriers, providing employment opportunities for numerous Americans across regional offices from sea to shining sea, expanding services even further into distant areas like Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, as well as others such as Connecticut, Delaware, Colorado and Idaho.
A notable achievement made was in increasing speeds by modernizing automated sorting systems that allow workers much more efficient time working. And on the Eastern side of U.S territory were significant improvements achieved with 50 states having a minimum amount delivery speed achieved through a 90% faster average delivery times.
While progress has been made, concerns linger regarding issues like rural homelessness and limited public transit infrastructure in many areas. Addressing these challenges is an ongoing priority for USPS as it expands its operations to provide accessible services throughout the nation.
