US PRESIDENTIAL TEAM TAKES SHAPE AS TRUMP CHOICES ALLIES

As the dust settles on Donald Trump's US election win, the president-elect has begun announcing his team of advisors, starting with a list of seasoned Washington figures drawn to his campaign and policy agenda.

Tech billionaire Elon Musk was one of Mr Trump's staunchest supporters in recent months and spent millions of dollars canvassing for him across seven battleground states - an amount estimated at over £92m. Musk will be appointed the head of a new Department of Government Efficiency, which will oversee conducting a complete financial audit of the federal government.

Prominent vaccine sceptic Robert F Kennedy Jr was endorsed by Mr Trump in August and has now been promised a role focusing on health policy within the administration - prompting concerns about the government's stance on infectious diseases and public health measures.

Former Fox News host Larry Kudlow, who also served as director of the National Economic Council for much of Mr Trump's first term, is also being considered for the position of Treasury Secretary. Other names in contention for key roles include billionaire hedge fund manager John Paulson, who donated $50m to Donald Trump during his presidential campaign.

Meanwhile Ms Lara Trump, wife of Eric and member of Donald Trump's cabinet on previous occasions, was among the officials who remained close by her father as he accepted electoral victory from his home.
