UP Concedes To Single-shift Exam Demand, But Students' Protest Continue

In a move aimed at placating the agitating students over the recent changes made to the PCS and RO exams, the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has agreed to conduct the preliminary exam 2024 in a single shift. However, despite this concession, the students' protest continues to gain momentum, as they remain dissatisfied with the proposed changes to the exam schedule.

This development comes ahead of the critical PCS and RO exams, which are set to take place on November 23rd. The single-stream examination, as proposed by the UPPSC, will allow candidates to complete both papers in a single sitting. However, some students have expressed concerns about losing valuable time to complete all the papers within a short span.

The ongoing protests have been met with resistance from the state government and authorities. Additional police force has been deployed at protest hotspots to ensure public safety while apprehending repeat offenders and attempting to disperse rowdy elements among the crowd.
