Union Budget Allocates ₹1,024.30 Crore for Parliamentary Expenses
In a significant jump from last year's allocation, Union Parliamentarians have seen an increase in expenses for hospitality and parliamentary operations, with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman table the Budget 2025-26 in Lok Sabha yesterday.
According to the Budget presented today, the Council of Ministers, Cabinet Secretariat, Prime Minister's Office, and expenditure on state guests have been allocated ₹1,024.30 crore. While this figure shows a significant increase from last year's allocation of ₹1,021.83 crore, it remains lower than what was initially expected.
For salaries, sumptuary allowances, travel expenses, and other allowances of the council of ministers, ₹619.04 crore has been allotted, which is approximately a ₹20 million increase compared to the previous fiscal.
Moreover, the National Security Council Secretariat have received ₹182.75 crore for administrative expenditures and space program activities, indicating an unexpected hike from last year's allocation of ₹270 crore. On the other hand, funding for VVIP's Special Extra Session Flight Operations has indeed seen an substantial jump at ₹4 crore.
