Ukraine Struggles as Russia Unleashes Largest Drone and Missile Attack
Kyiv, Ukraine - A devastating Russian drone and missile attack on a nine-story building in Sumy, a city in northern Ukraine, has left at least eight people dead and dozens wounded, according to Ukraine's Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko. The attack, described as the largest in recent months, also resulted in over 400 people being evacuated from the damaged building.
According to officials, two children among the victims were killed in the strikes. The building, located 40 kilometers away from the Russia-Ukraine border, was left severely damaged, with rescuers scouring every apartment for anyone still trapped inside.
The massive attack on Sumy comes as tensions between Ukraine and Russia escalate, with both sides accusing each other of aggression and escalating violence. The international community has remained largely silent on the matter thus far.
Eyewitnesses report scenes of utter chaos and destruction in the war-torn city, as rescue teams struggle to contain the scale of the damage and provide assistance to those affected.
"The situation is dire," said Klymenko. "We are working tirelessly to provide aid to those affected by this heinous attack." The full extent of the damage and casualties from the attack remains unclear, but it is confirmed that multiple residential buildings were among the targets of the Russian strikes.
