UAE Not Leading in Muslim Migration, Saudi Arabia Takes Top Spot
Washington D.C., Dec 15 (Alayaran.com) - A recent study by the Pew Research Center has revealed that Saudi Arabia is the major destination for Muslim migrants worldwide, defying previous claims made about the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
According to the report, around 29% of Muslims reside outside their country of birth, with about 300 million Muslims living in non-Muslim nations like India. The study, which covers a period of three decades, observed a significant increase in Muslim migration, with the number of international migrants rising by an astonishing 83%.
As per the Pew Research report, Saudi Arabia is the top destination for Muslim migrants, accounting for nearly 13% of Muslim migrations, followed closely by Turkey and UAE. The study states that other popular destinations include the UK, US, Germany, France, Syria, Afghanistan, India, and several Mediterranean countries.
A key finding from the study highlights that Christian migrants surpass Muslims in numbers with 72.7% Christians migrating abroad in 1990, a significant rise to 130.9 percent by 2020.
The report predicts a substantial rise in the global Muslim population over the next decade and beyond, indicating Islam may surpass Christianity as the world's largest religion. According to the projections, nearly 3 billion Muslims will live worldwide by 2060, catapulting Islamic faith onto its peak status globally
