Trump Taps 'Disruptors' to Shake Up Administration: Top Republican
Washington D.C. - House Speaker Mike Johnson has described President-elect Donald Trump's cabinet picks as "disruptors" who will shake up the status quo in the incoming administration. Speaking on CNN's State of the Union on Sunday, Johnson emphasized that Trump is intentionally selecting individuals with a proven track record of breaking down barriers and shaking up the existing power structures.
According to Johnson, Trump's nominees are not necessarily seasoned policymakers but rather "people who will get things done" despite potential controversy. The President-elect's son, Donald Trump Jr., defended these picks on Fox News, saying that his father is surrounded with individuals who know how to deliver results.
Among the most contentious nominations is that of Robert F Kennedy Jr as health secretary, with his vaccine scepticism drawing widespread criticism. Attorney General nominee Matt Gaetz is also at the centre of an ethics scandal, further fuelling concerns about Trump's cabinet choices.
On a related front, oil executive Chris Wright was announced as energy secretary, a position that aligns with Trump's campaign promise to increase fossil fuel production. Wright, who has previously expressed climate change scepticism, is expected to play a key role in driving the administration's energy policies.
Meanwhile, President-elect Joe Biden visited the Amazon rainforest on Sunday as he highlighted his climate legacy. The move came ahead of his inauguration next month and serves as a symbolic contrast to Trump's stance on environmental issues.
