Trump Taps 'Disruptors' in Bid to Shake Up Washington

Washington D.C., USA - In a bid to shatter the status quo, President-elect Donald Trump is appointing "disruptors" with no related policy experience to lead his incoming administration, according to House Speaker Mike Johnson. The top Republican said on Sunday that these individuals are meant to shake up the current system, as part of Trump's deliberate strategy.

Trump has announced numerous officials, who seem to favor close allies over those with relevant expertise. Notable picks include Pete Hegseth, nominated for defence secretary, despite a history of publicized denials and controversy; Matt Gaetz, in line to become attorney general, caught up in an ethics scandal; Robert F Kennedy Jr., nominee for health secretary, under scrutiny for vaccine scepticism.

Those close to Trump maintain a safety net plan should these nominees fail to receive Senate approval. "It's about surrounding my father with people who are competent and loyal," said Donald Trump Jr, defending the picks on Fox News. They will deliver on his promises."

The latest appointment is Chris Wright, an oil executive nominated as energy secretary. Wright and his company Liberty Energy played a significant role in the US's fracking boom, which has positioned America as the world's largest oil producer.

Trump has promised to increase fossil fuel production, with climate scepticism being at odds with efforts to combat global warming. President-elect Joe Biden's recent visit to the tropical Amazon rainforest marked a stark contrast to Trump's stance on environmental issues.

"This is a win for the fossil fuel industry," noted Johnson.
