Trailblazers Breaking Barriers: Amy Trask, Jennifer Lewis, and Courtney Moore Inspired Young Women in Sports

Los Angeles, CA - A packed auditorium at the USC University Park Campus was filled with excitement as nine industry-leading women, including trailblazers Amy Trask, Jennifer Lewis, and Courtney Moore, gathered for the National Girls & Women in Sports Day celebration co-sponsored by USC Gould School of Law and the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.
Trask, who made history as the team's first female CEO in the NFL 30 years ago, shared her journey from a spontaneous call to the Raiders' front office to becoming one of the league's most successful executives. Lewis, general counsel for the L.A. Clippers, spoke about breaking into sports after 26 years in the entertainment industry. Moore, vice president of diversity, equity and inclusion for the L.A. Dodgers, discussed her path to leading diversity efforts in a new space.
The event featured three panels, each with speakers who are shattering walls in the sports industry, followed by a networking session for students to learn from these trailblazers and get advice on their own careers. The panel discussions had attendees engaged, captivated, and inspired.
“Angel City has fully committed to that vision of giving you an excellent product,” said Madison Hammond, Angel City FC player, as the team's inaugural season made historic mark in the L.A. area with a women's professional soccer team since 2010.
USC students were treated to some of the biggest game-changers on and off the field. Other USC affiliates such as Trojan legend Lisa Leslie discussed sports branding, emphasizing hustle, hard work, and networking – advice they imparted to attendees.
Maximizing resources was also a point of focus at this latest event in recognizing the contributions of individuals paving paths for growth within professional women sports, inspiring a new era for women's sports.
