Top-Ranked High School Basketball Star Reveals Pressure of Being at the Top
Phoenix, AZ - Sierra Canyon basketball star Jerzy Robinson has spoken out about the challenges of maintaining her top spot as a highly touted recruit in the Class of 2026. In an interview that premiered on the Made Hoops YouTube channel on December 27, Robinson emphasized the importance of staying motivated and putting in the work to stay at the top.
The 6-foot-1 guard from Phoenix discussed the pressure that comes with being considered one of the best young prospects in the country. "The hardest thing about being a top-ranked recruit is maintaining it," she said. "You know it's hard to get there, but it's even harder to stay at the top."
Robinson, who attends Desert Vista High School and is ranked as the No. 3 prospect in the Class of 2026 by ESPN, attributed her success to staying motivated and taking care of herself under pressure. Her star continues to rise with nominations for USA Basketball Athlete of the Year and a significant following on social media, with over 60,000 followers on Instagram.
Represented by LeBron James' Klutch Sports Group, Robinson is also one of the few high school basketball stars with Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals at Nike. Her success on the court has been impressive, with an average of 22.0 points and 8.2 rebounds per game in her freshman year.
Robinson's achievements extend beyond her high school career, as she was part of the 2023 USA Basketball Women's U16 team that claimed the gold medal at the FIBA Americas U16 Championship in Merida. She was also named MVP, becoming the youngest player to win the prize in the competition's history.
As Robinson continues to climb the ranks and attract attention from college coaches and pro scouts, it remains to be seen how well she can maintain her top spot among the country's top prospects.
