Top Indian Batsmen Sunrisers Hyderabad Could Target Along With Spinners In IPL 2025 Mega Auctions

Bengaluru, Nov 20 (ANI): Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) is gearing up for the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auctions with a reduced purse of ₹45 crore and one retained Mid-Order Transferable Money (RTM).

The franchise has retained six players from its 2024 squad, including Heinrich Klaasen, Pat Cummins, Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Shahbaz Ahmed. Ahead of the mega auctions, Mohammed Siraj thinks that SRH can target some top Indian batsmen to balance their side.

According to an ESPNCricinfo report released by ESPN News, Krunal Pandya is one player whose name has come up for consideration along with other big-name players like Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Siraj and Shahbaz Ahmed among others.

Krunal, who has won three IPL titles with Mumbai Indians, is known for his exceptional spin bowling skills as well as his batting prowess. He can play a crucial match-winning innings lower in the order or chip in with valuable overs at critical juncture.

Yuzvendra Chahal was not retained by Rajasthan Royals but he continues to be one of the few good options SRH has. With 66 IPL wickets last season, this 34-year-old spinner will be a sure shot take-wicket bowler as well and capable of stemming the flow of runs from opposition.

Avesh Khan is another batsman who impressed his coaches with valuable death-over bowling skills recently, and now he might finally find stability with SRH while the Bengaluru based all-rounder has won numerous IPL matches for CSK and KKR

SRH may again hope to strike gold like they did with Afghanistan’s mystery spinner Rashid Khan. Allah Ghazanfar holds great promise as an 18-year-old Afghan finger-spinner whose deliveries can turn in both directions, dismantling Bangladesh batting lineup just recently.

However, SRH's purse might be a hindrance for the team's plans if it wants to sign top Indian bowlers given that all specialist Indian bowlers have since been released by the franchise. Hence they may need to spend sparing on their bowling staff.

The franchise could potentially retain Pat Cummins alongside Mohammed Siraj and offer new contract along with Shahbaz Ahmed, although a lot can go wrong in mega auction for SRH teams ahead from Jan 5.

With this strategy, SRH is likely to attract some big-name players. First Published: November 20, 2024, 15:09 IST
