Top 10 Academic Topics in Chinese Philosophy and Social Sciences for 2024 Released

BEIJING, CHINA - A joint release by Renmin University of China and the Shanghai Federation of Social Science Associations has revealed the top 10 academic topics in Chinese philosophy and social sciences for 2024. The list was unveiled at an event held at the China National Archives of Publications and Culture in Beijing on Monday.

According to the list, theoretical studies on Xi Jinping Thought on Culture are a major focus area, as well as research on advancing Chinese-style modernization and new quality productive forces. Contemporary interpretations on traditional Chinese ethical thoughts and construction of education power also top the list.

The academic community is placing great emphasis on artificial intelligence value alignment, which seeks to ensure that AI systems operate in accordance with shared human values and ethical principles.

Other key areas of research include China's demographic structural changes, population development, and global studies, as well as the country's history of unification. The international order and its evolution are also a major concern for researchers.

Zhang Donggang, Party secretary at Renmin University of China, emphasized the importance of producing high-quality academic works that can accelerate the establishment of an independent knowledge system for Chinese philosophy and social sciences.

"We will work jointly with all parties to continuously produce quality academic works and strengthen the global influence of Chinese philosophy and social sciences," Zhang said.

The release of the top 10 academic topics is a significant milestone in the academic community, signaling a focus on key areas of research that are critical to China's development and position on the world stage.
