Title: Parliament Winter Session Live Updates: Healthcare to be Key Agenda Today

New Delhi, Nov 29, 2024 - The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha saw a flurry of activity on Day 5 of the Parliament Winter Session, with debates on various healthcare issues, including the election of members to serve three AIIMS hospitals and NIMHANS in Bengaluru, taking center stage. However, the session was marred by disruptions and adjournments, with both houses concluding for the day without any substantial discussions.

The agenda for today's session includes motions on hiring members for these healthcare institutions, as well as discussions on the growing concerns surrounding sickle cell anaemia and Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) and Anganwadi Helpers (AWHs). The ongoing violence in Bangladesh, triggered by anti-Hindu attacks, is also expected to be discussed.

In the midst of this chaos, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman moved the Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill in the Lok Sabha, which seeks to amend banking laws to alter the tenure of directors of cooperative banks and expand provisions for settling unclaimed amounts.

However, not all was smooth sailing in the Lok Sabha today. Aam Aadmi Party MPs staged protests in Parliament premises, claiming a deteriorating law and order situation in Delhi as their primary concern. At the other end of the spectrum, Opposition members, including the AAP, demanded discussions on the violence in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal during a mosque survey.

The winter session continues to be plagued by party infighting and opposition disruptions, with the question of how to address these challenges remaining unresolved.
