Titan Company Leverages AI to Boost Efficiency and Quality Control in Watch Manufacturing

By Alayaran News

Tirupati, [Date] - Titan Company, a leading name in the watch and lifestyle industry, is harnessing the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generative AI (GenAI) to revolutionize its operations. The company, which began its journey four decades ago, has now integrated AI into its core manufacturing processes, particularly in the quality control of its analogue watches.

Krishnan Venkateswaran, Chief Digital and Information Officer at Titan, revealed to Alayaran News that the company has trained neural networks on thousands of images to develop an AI-powered solution capable of checking watch times in mere fractions of a second. This technology not only identifies faulty watches with high precision but also significantly speeds up the production process. "It circles the incorrect watch with red. So, the operator just has to look at the image, pick up the watch that has gone incorrect. It’s a great innovation that helps both quality and speed," Venkateswaran explained.

Beyond manufacturing, Titan is enhancing customer interaction on its digital platforms. The company's websites now use AI to display products tailored to individual customer behaviors. "Our websites are equipped with intelligence that enables the site to pop up different products based on how the customer is interacting with us. The system can judge customer propensity and show interesting products with increasing accuracy," Venkateswaran noted.

In the realm of marketing, Titan employs predictive AI and GenAI to create personalized campaigns, ensuring messages resonate with varied customer segments. "We have advanced segmentation and understanding of customer propensities. We've now merged that with GenAI messaging, tailoring the narrative and images to the persona, leading to improved click-through rates and engagement," he added.

The eyecare division of Titan also benefits from AI, where vision AI technology helps customers ensure their spectacles are correctly aligned. Users can take a selfie through an app, which then analyzes the image for any misalignment and suggests a visit to the store if necessary.

Moreover, Titan has introduced multilingual and conversational bots on its jewelry website to understand customer needs, manage budget constraints, and suggest suitable products. Plans are also underway to deploy service bots that will handle customer issue resolution more autonomously. Currently, these bots work in a co-pilot mode, assisting contact center employees with response suggestions based on historical data.

Inside the company, bots are being utilized to streamline routine employee tasks, thereby boosting operational efficiency. Venkateswaran hinted at several innovative projects in development aimed at further enhancing manufacturing efficiency, though details were kept under wraps.

Titan's embrace of AI not only underscores its commitment to innovation but also positions it as a forward-thinking leader in the luxury goods market, ensuring that its diverse product lines continue to meet high standards of quality and customer satisfaction.
