Thomas Tuchel Handed 18-Month Contract as New England Manager, Tasked with Breaking Long Wait for Major Trophy
London, UK - German manager Thomas Tuchel has been appointed as the new manager of the England national team, taking over from interim boss Lee Carsley. Tuchel, 51, has signed an 18-month contract with the Football Association and is tasked with ending England's long wait for a major trophy.
Carsley, who succeeded Gareth Southgate as interim boss, believes that the current squad has all the tools to succeed in the 2026 World Cup. "I think we are in a good position to do that," he said after leading England to a 5-0 win over the Republic of Ireland at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.
Tuchel has increased the pool of players working with carsley had, giving debuts to eight new faces during his temporary spell. Carsley praised Tuchel's tactics, saying "We have got all of the tools. We just need to play them in the order."
