THAKUR BLAMES CONGRESS GOVERNMENT FOR HIMACHAL'S DECLINE
Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur on Saturday took a broad swipe at the outgoing Congress government in Himachal Pradesh, saying that its tenure was marred by failures and a lack of development.
Thakur, who had just returned from campaigning for elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand, said that the state's national image was being tarnished due to the policies implemented during the Congress government's two-year rule. According to Thakur, Himachal Pradesh had been left behind in terms of development, which would be difficult to recover from.
Thakur alleged that the Congress government had started a practice of deceiving people by making unrealistic guarantees before the 2022 Assembly elections. Instead of fulfilling these promises, the government allegedly withdrew subsidies and closed down operational institutions. The total number of youth who lost their jobs in the state stood at over 12,000 in the past two years, while around 1,200 functioning institutions were shut down.
Thakur's scathing critique comes ahead of the upcoming Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections, which are seen as a significant test for the BJP. The Leader of Opposition described the Congress model as an example of failed governance and gaining power through false promises.
