Tennessee Titans Claw Their Way to No. 1 Pick in 2025 NFL Draft, New England Patriots Seem to Have Played a Role

In a surprising turn of events, the Tennessee Titans have secured the coveted No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, marking their first time holding this distinction since the Houston Oilers in 1978. The team's ascension to this position was largely facilitated by a win over the Buffalo Bills and a loss by the Houston Texans.

Tennessee finished the season with a dismal record of 3-14 but outperformed the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants, who will pick second and third respectively. The Patriots, one of the teams that contributed to Tennessee's rise in draft order, will have to wait until select No. 4 in the highly anticipated draft.

While some may view the 2025 quarterback class as a weak point, with top prospects including Cam Ward out of Miami (Fla.), Shedeur Sanders from Colorado, and Jalen Milroe from Alabama, the Titans seem intent on addressing the position that plagued them last season. Second-year quarterback Will Levis was underwhelming, throwing only 13 touchdowns against nearly twice as many interceptions.

Given the Titans' history in drafting quarterbacks, namely Marcus Mariota in 2015, fans might wonder what the team has planned for their No. 1 pick this year. There's speculation that they may pass on selecting a quarterback altogether or explore trade options with desperate franchises.

The draft is scheduled to take place April 24-26 at the Fiserv Forum in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Titans have an interesting opportunity to shake up the roster and potentially turn their fortunes around for next season. As Dane Brugler, NFL Draft writer advises, "If they don't see a quarterback worthy of taking with that pick, you'd expect them to swing a trade to gain extra draft capital."
