TEC Member Orders Princes to Maintain Student Health Records
A surprise inspection by Telangana Education Commission (TEC) member Ch Venkatesh on Sunday revealed that some government residential schools in Suryapet are compromising on student health and nutrition.
Venkatesh, who was accompanied by Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation chairman Patel Ramesh Reddy, visited the Social Welfare Residential School at Imampet, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas at Suryapet, and Minorities Welfare Residential School at Kodad. During his visit, he observed that food quality in some of these institutions was substandard.
In response to concerns raised by students regarding food served in their schools, Venkatesh instructed the principals of these institutions to maintain records on student health condition, including any seasonal diseases or illnesses the children might be facing.
Venkatesh also directed the principals to conduct special classes for Class 10 students in the evenings to prepare them for upcoming board examinations. Furthermore, he emphasised the importance of monitoring student health and taking immediate action in case of any adverse conditions.
"Principals must ensure that all necessary precautions are taken to safeguard student health, especially during outbreaks of seasonal diseases," Venkatesh stated.
In a positive move towards promoting educational tourism, Venkatesh announced that students of residential schools would be given the opportunity to participate in study tours to visit Ramappa temple in Warangal. When contacted, Padma Rao, chairperson of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyala Society, confirmed this initiative and expressed gratitude to TEC member for taking steps towards improving student learning experiences.
The Telangana government will closely monitor the response from government residential school principals on implementing these new measures aimed at enhancing student health and academic performance.
