Tata Power Unveils State-of-the-Art Power Distribution Technology Centre in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar, December [insert date] - TPCODL, a joint venture of Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, has officially launched its state-of-the-art Power Distribution Technology Centre (PDTC) in Bhubaneswar, marked by the presence of senior officials including Deputy Chief Minister K. V. Singh Deo.
Located at 244 Sector 3, Unit 5, Nayapalli Square Ring Road, Kharabela Moharani Chowk, the cutting-edge technology hub marks a significant leap forward in distribution network management and operational excellence. The centre combines advanced Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) systems with a 24x7 Power System Control Centre (PSCC), enabling real-time network monitoring, seamless system operations, and uninterrupted power supply across Odisha.
According to sources, the centre's various features include an Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS), Geographical Information System (GIS), Utility Data Stream (UDS), as well as real-time weather monitoring and satellite communication for enhanced connectivity and operational continuity.
The PSCC oversees 224 SCADA-integrated primary substations and their 11 kV infrastructure, ensuring robust network reliability. Additionally, the facility houses a dedicated data centre housing over 400 servers to support critical applications like billing systems, websites, and mobile apps.
Senior officials from Tata Power led by CEO & MD Dr. Praveer Sinha expressed their confidence that this technology hub would transform Odisha's power distribution system into one of the most advanced in India, serving over 5 crore consumers.
The Deputy Chief Minister K. V. Singh Deo underscored the importance of such a technological leap stating "The Power Distribution Technology Centre is a key step in making Odisha a hub of distribution excellence. With advanced infrastructure and technologies, it ensures resilient and reliable power for the state."
The state-of-the-art facility aims to enhance the operational resilience of Odisha's power distribution network while ensuring smooth operations across the state.
TPCODL was formed with Tata Power and the Government of Odisha as its respective partners. The Joint Venture marked a significant step forward in transforming Odisha's energy sector.
