Tamil Nadu Set to Expand Education Network with 11 New Arts and Science Colleges

In a bid to expand its education infrastructure, the Tamil Nadu government has announced plans to establish 11 new arts and science colleges across the state, including one in Chennai and another in nearby Chengalpattu districts.

The decision was made in accordance with a recent announcement by the state legislature. Following this, the Higher Education Department issued a government order on Friday, permitting the establishment of 11 such institutions.

The locations earmarked for these new colleges include Chennai, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Perambalur, the Nilgiris, Dindigul, Sivaganga, Thoothukudi, and Panruti.

As per the order, each college will have 12 assistant professors and 14 non-teaching staff on its rolls. A total of Rs 25.27 crore has been allocated initially for setting up these new institutions, expected to boost educational opportunities in the state.

The establishment of these colleges is seen as a significant step ahead in fulfilling the education needs of the local population and promoting higher education in Tamil Nadu.
