Suspension of Block Medical Officer in Rajouri for Neglecting Duty

Jammu, November 26, 2023 - In a decisive move to uphold healthcare standards, Rajouri Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma suspended a Block Medical Officer (BMO) on Sunday after discovering widespread absenteeism during a surprise inspection at Sub-Division Hospital, Darhal, in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district.

The inspection, aimed at assessing winter preparedness, revealed a stark absence of staff, with only one doctor and a technician present at the facility. This negligence raised serious concerns about the hospital's ability to provide essential healthcare services, particularly as the region braces for colder months.

Following the findings, DC Sharma promptly suspended BMO Darhal, reassigning him to the office of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Rajouri. The CMO has been tasked with the additional responsibility of overseeing BMO Darhal to ensure continuity in healthcare services.

Further action includes the appointment of Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Raj Kumar Thapa as the inquiry officer. He has been directed to delve into the reasons behind the officer's gross dereliction of duty and submit a detailed report within three days.

"The administration is committed to ensuring that healthcare services are not compromised, especially during critical times like winter. We will not tolerate any negligence that affects public welfare," stated Deputy Commissioner Sharma, emphasizing the urgency of the matter.

This incident underscores the local administration's resolve to maintain rigorous standards in public service delivery, ensuring that the residents of Rajouri receive the healthcare they deserve.
