Southwestern University Named Top Green College in Texas for Third Consecutive Year

KERRVILLE, TEXAS - The Princeton Review has announced that Southwestern University is once again recognized as one of the nation’s top green colleges, ranking it at #50 in their 2025 Guide to Green Colleges. This marks the third consecutive year that the university has appeared on the list and the fifth straight year that SU has been accredited by The Princeton Review for its environmental responsibility and sustainability.

"We are delighted to recommend Southwestern University to students who want their 'best-fit' college to also be a 'green' one," said Rob Franek, Editor-in-Chief of The Princeton Review. "Southwestern, which offers excellent academics, also demonstrates a strong commitment to sustainability in its campus programs, policies, and practices."

The Princeton Review surveyed nearly 600 colleges and universities about their sustainability-related policies, practices, and programs, and awarded each college with a unique Green Rating on a scale of 60-99. Southwestern received an impressive Green Rating of 96, indicating the highest level of commitment to environmental responsibility.

Beyond the Top 50 list, The Princeton Review profiles 511 colleges that demonstrate a culture of environmental responsibility and sustainability. Each profile provides detailed information on each institution's use of renewable energy, recycling programs, and conservation efforts, as well as its academic offerings in environmental studies.

This recognition is not the only one bestowed upon Southwestern University this year. The Princeton Review recently named SU one of their "Best Colleges" for 2025, ranking it #1 in Texas and #2 in the nation in their "Best Career Services" category.

The annual Guide to Green Colleges has been published by The Princeton Review since 2010, providing guidance to students who seek colleges that prioritize environmental stewardship.
