Srinagar, Dec 28 (ANI): Heavy snowfall has brought the picturesque city of Srinagar to a grinding halt as police deployed special assistance teams to provide immediate aid to vehicles affected by slippery roads.

According to official sources, these specialized teams have been stationed at key points throughout Anantnag district to offer timely relief and ensure the safety of commuters battling against harsh weather conditions.

"We have deployed our Special Assistance Teams across the district to provide immediate aid to stranded commuters. These teams are equipped to respond to the challenges posed by slippery roads and heavy snowfall," an official press release read.

The public has been advised to exercise extreme caution while traveling, especially during this period. Citizens were also informed that in case of emergencies or assistance, they can dial 112 for immediate aid.

Police have set up a 24/7 helpline number to cater to the needs of those affected during this winter season.

Meanwhile, the scenic city of Srinagar was seen witnessing its first snowfall of the year on Friday, marking the beginning of a serene winter wonderland.
