SITA Elevates Airport Technology Standards with Integrated IPS Intelligent Solutions

In a move that solidifies its position as a leader in airport technology and digital transformation, SITA has officially integrated IPS Intelligent Passenger Solutions into its SITA Airports suite.
Now rebranded as “IPS, a SITA company,” the enhanced division offers a robust suite of intelligent passenger solutions, including self-service bag drops, kiosks, touchless scanners, and printers. This strategic integration complements SITA’s airport operations, passenger management, and baggage handling systems, establishing a new benchmark in Aviation Technology Industry (ATI) solutions for airports and passengers worldwide.
The integration is the result of a regulatory and legal process completed by SITA in July, facilitating an accelerated push towards global aviation industry digitalization. The integration will enhance processes across check-in, baggage handling, security, and airport operations, providing travelers with shorter wait times, streamlined experiences, and a new wave of intuitive, personalized digital services.
Nathalie Altwegg, SVP of Airports at SITA, said: “Airports worldwide need to adopt technologies that can remove unnecessary bottlenecks at pinch points like check-in, security and embarkation. The addition of IPS a SITA company combines the best of our market-leading SITA and IPS products and expertise to deliver seamless travel experiences.”
Dr. Georg Oschmann, CEO of IPS a SITA company, added: “By connecting our expertise, we are positioned to deliver even greater value to airlines and airports worldwide. Our integration enhances our ability to streamline the passenger journey and drive innovation that meets the evolving needs of the industry.”
The integration has enabled SITA’s Airports portfolio to continue driving innovation in the Aviation Transport Industry. Its cutting-edge offerings, such as biometric solutions serving 85% of international air passengers worldwide, Common Use Terminal Equipment (CUTE), Common Use Self Service (CUSS) kiosks, Airport Management Systems (AMS), and Airside Optimizer tools, all support efficient, sustainable airport operations.
These advancements enable airports to maximize terminal capacities, uphold top security standards, and deliver a seamless travel experience. Enhanced by biometrics, facial recognition, and self-service options, SITA transforms airports into digitalized, tailored travel environments for the modern passenger.
With over 2,300 Self-Bag Drop kiosks operational across more than 120 airports worldwide, processing approximately 150,000 bag drops every day, IPS, now a part of SITA, is positioned as the clear leader in providing comprehensive airport solutions.
