Shreyanka Patil Shines at Indian Sports Honours 2024, Wins Breakthrough Performance Award

New Delhi, November 9, 2024 – Indian women's cricket all-rounder Shreyanka Patil turned heads at the Indian Sports Honours 2024 awards on Saturday, not only with her stunning blue attire on the red carpet but also by clinching the prestigious 'Breakthrough Performance of the Year Female' award.

The 22-year-old made a notable entrance amidst a throng of media, capturing the attention of photographers and fans alike. Competing against formidable athletes like sport shooter Esha Singh, swimmer Dhinidhi Desinghu, and women’s hockey captain Salima Tete, Patil's standout performances over the past year earned her the accolade.

Patil, who debuted internationally in December of the previous year, has been on an upward trajectory. In 2024, she has taken 15 wickets in 13 T20I matches and secured four wickets in two ODIs. Her pivotal role was evident during India Women’s 3-0 ODI series victory against South Africa in June, where she also played a match-defining spell in the series-levelling T20I win the following month.

Her prowess was further highlighted in the Women's Premier League (WPL) where she was part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team that clinched the 2024 season title.

The Indian Sports Honours, which celebrate the achievements of Indian athletes across various sports, also saw rising cricket star Yashasvi Jaiswal taking home the 'Breakthrough Performance of the Year Male' award, outshining competitors including Rinku Singh, Abhishek Nain, and Sarabjot Singh.

The ceremony, held annually, continues to be a platform for recognizing and promoting sports excellence in India, showcasing the nation's burgeoning talent on both national and international stages.
