SHINee Onew's Agency CEO Calls Out SM Entertainment For Halting Group Activities
In a recent Instagram post, Griffin Entertainment's CEO referred to the tensions between SHINee members and their former agency, SM Entertainment. The statement has sparked renewed speculation about Onew's departure from SM Entertainment in 2024.
Following Onew's exit, fans have observed his absence from SHINee-related activities managed by SM Entertainment since then. Despite being part of the iconic group for 17 years, Onew departed to join a new agency in search of fresh opportunities.
As SM Entertainment celebrated its 30th anniversary with an SMTOWN LIVE concert featuring Key and Minho as the only remaining members still signed with the company, fans took notice of Shawols' eagerness to see the group reunite. The recent post from Griffin Entertainment's CEO has sparked renewed hope for SHINee's reactivation.
In a statement that seems aimed at SM Entertainment, the CEO questioned whether they are merely a 'standby team.' A winter single, an untitled mini-album, and their participation in SMTOWN LIVE have been called off, further fuelling speculation over Onew's decision to leave SM Entertainment.
Onew himself shared his thoughts on departing from SM Entertainment last year, stating that he began feeling comfortable due to his long time at the company. He now joins new challenges with Griffin Entertainment.
Taemin recently addressed SHINee fans regarding the ongoing issues and expressed hope for a reunion of SHINee's original group formation. Onew departed SM Entertainment to sign with Griffin and has been reported to be working diligently on promoting his next projects under Griffin.
Although tensions are still present between SHINee members and their former agency, fans remain hopeful that the iconic K-pop group will one day resume its activities together.
