Mumbai: The Indian stock market saw a surge in early trade on Tuesday, with the Sensex and Nifty gaining ground due to value buying at lower levels and positive sentiment from domestic institutional investors.
The BSE Sensex jumped by 324.83 points to reach 79,820.98, while the NSE Nifty rose by 100.7 points to stand at 24,242. The major gains were seen in Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, and Tata Steel. Despite a negative trend from key Asian markets, the Wall Street closed higher on positive sentiment.
However, the market remains under pressure due to Foreign Institutional Investor (FII) selling. Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs), however, continue to provide support to the market.
ED Conducts Raids in Jharkhand and West Bengal Over Suspected Illegal Bangladeshi Infiltration
Jharkhand: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids across Jharkhand and West Bengal as part of a money laundering probe into alleged Bangladeshi infiltration and human trafficking.
This investigation follows a Jharkhand Police FIR from June, which involved the trafficking of Bangladeshi women under the guise of work opportunities. The ED is probing several key individuals in connection with the alleged human trafficking nexus.
