Secure Technology Alliance Recognized as Catalyst in Landmark Report on Deepfake and Synthetic Identity

Washington D.C., June 12, 2025 - The Secure Technology Alliance (STA), a leading association in the digital security industry, has been recognized as a Catalyst organization by The Prism Project. A new report, "Deepfake and Synthetic Identity Prism Report," acknowledges STA's pivotal role in advancing secure identity technologies.
The report highlights STA's groundbreaking work in promoting critical infrastructure, culture, and community in the digital identity ecosystem. Its thirty-year track record of guiding secure technology implementations, as well as its recent initiative to form the Mobile Driver’s License (mDL) Jumpstart Committee, have earned it a esteemed status among industry stakeholders.
According to the report, STA's efforts are crucial in addressing the rapidly evolving threats posed by genAI-driven fraud. By backing cryptographically verifiable credentials, particularly through ISO/IEC 18013‑5-compliant mDLs, STA is helping establish a more secure foundation for digital identity.
"We're honored to be recognized by The Prism Project and proud to lead collaborative discussions between government, technology providers and industry stakeholders to advance privacy-preserving identity tools that can meet today's rapidly evolving threats," said Christina Hulka, executive director of the Secure Technology Alliance.
The report commends STA for its proactive response to emerging identity fraud. By providing digitally signed, state-issued identity data that can be authenticated offline and used in both in-person and remote channels, mDLs reduce the risk of presentation attacks and enable selective disclosure, allowing individuals to share only the data required for a specific transaction.
