Panjabi University on high alert as students showcase innovation and creative expression across various events.
Punjab, November 18, 2023: The highly anticipated three-day Saturnalia 2023 cultural event of the Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology drew to a close today. Organisers said that they saw numerous participation from people of all age groups, thereby making this year’s Saturnalia bigger and better in terms of creativity.
The event kicked off on November 15 with an elaborate opening ceremony at the open-air theatre, which was attended by many academic dignitaries such as Director Prof Padmakumar Nair, Deputy Director Prof Ajay Batish, Dean of Student Affairs Prof Inderveer Chana, and Registrar Dr. Gurbinder Singh.
The event took a vibrant turn with students showcasing their cultural prowess in traditional performances. Ruhaniyat, Mushaira-an evening of poetry and Luddi-Bhangra presented the artistic aspects of Punjab’s rich traditions to the audience.
On the second day, the college witnessed an even more thrilling lineup of events including Wild West Showdown and The Battle of the Bands to name a few which put on display innovative designs made by college students. It is worth noting that these designs were from the field of Robotics, AI, and Automation showcased at the Tech Expo.
The event had come to an end but yet another round of excitement for its last day when MicDrop with rap and beatbox brought out the energy in audience while Nritya Blitz provided insights into several classes of classical dance. Notably college students made a great effort by bringing engineering excellence on top, showcasing solutions at ElectroSprint.
“Saturnalia 2023 is over but we will do our bit again,” stated the director.
