Sarma and Conrad Inaugurates IISF at IIT-Guwahati
Guwahati: CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and Union Minister Jitendra Singh yesterday inaugurated the 10th edition of India International Science Festival (IISF) at Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati. The event is being organized by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), under the aegis of the ministry of science and technology and the ministry of earth sciences.
The festival aims to showcase scientific achievements and innovations, highlighting initiatives such as Chandrayaan-2, India's second lunar mission. CSIR-NIIST, Thiruvananthapuram served as the nodal institute for the event.
Several dignitaries attended the inauguration ceremony, including Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, Arunachal Pradesh minister Dasanglu Pul and Assam's minister for science & technology Keshab Mahanta. The festival is expected to host around 8,000 delegates, researchers and prominent scientific organizations, alongside 10,000 students from educational institutions.
"Without the unwavering support of our Honorable Prime Minister, this festival would not have been possible," said CM Himanta Biswa Sarma. "IISF stands as a grand celebration of scientific innovation and collaboration, featuring numerous innovations catering to a diverse audience. It showcases India's remarkable achievements, such as Chandrayaan-2, and includes a science expo that highlights cutting-edge research and technology."
The 10-day event aims to promote India's scientific achievements and foster collaboration between professionals and the general public.
IISF 2024 to be Held at IIT Guwahati
The event will take place from November 30 to December 4, with a focus on transforming India into an S&T driven Global Manufacturing Hub.
