Samsung Unveils One UI 8 Watch Software with AI-Powered Health Tracking Tools

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA - Samsung has introduced a range of cutting-edge health-tracking tools in its upcoming One UI 8 Watch software, aimed at helping users develop better daily habits through enhanced monitoring of sleep, heart health, fitness, and nutrition.

Through a limited beta programme, the update will be available on Galaxy Watch models, bringing several new features, including Bedtime Guidance, Vascular Load monitoring, a Running Coach, and an Antioxidant Index tool. The AI-powered software is designed to provide users with personalized insights and suggestions to support their long-term wellness.

According to Samsung, the Bedtime Guidance feature uses data from the past three nights to suggest an optimal bedtime for users based on recent sleep patterns and lifestyle habits. This includes offering personalized suggestions and reminders to help users recover from inconsistent sleep routines. The feature also aims to improve daytime alertness by assessing factors like sleep pressure and circadian rhythm.

The update also introduces Vascular Load, a tool that measures the amount of stress on the vascular system during sleep. Assessing whether natural overnight reductions in stress are occurring as expected provides insights into cardiovascular health. Samsung notes that irregularities may reflect broader lifestyle issues, such as poor sleep quality or high stress.

For fitness enthusiasts, the Running Coach creates personalized training plans for events ranging from 5Ks to full marathons. The system adjusts over time based on user progress, aiming to reduce injury risks while encouraging consistency.

The Antioxidant Index tool measures carotenoid levels in the skin using a light-based sensor, providing feedback on recent dietary choices within just five seconds. Carotenoids, found in foods like carrots and leafy greens, act as antioxidants and are associated with slower cellular ageing.

Samsung maintains that its focus is on supporting the development of long-term habits rather than providing instant results. The features are intended for general wellness, not clinical diagnosis or treatment. For example, while the sleep functions can suggest patterns and detect possible signs of sleep apnoea, they are not a substitute for medical advice.

With the introduction of One UI 8 Watch software, Samsung is taking another step towards supporting users in their pursuit of overall wellness.
